What Are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds that interact with cannabinoid receptors in your brain and nervous system. There are approximately 120 identified cannabinoids in marijuana, and more are being discovered. They are separated into different categories, the most recognized being CBD and THC, which is the psychoactive agent that produces the “high” effect.
Cannabis, the wonderful plant that makes the marijuana world go around, is renowned and celebrated. It is used in many different ways. However, the psychoactive and biological nature of cannabis isn’t as widely known. It is still heavily researched by scientists. These chemical compounds that are in cannabis are called cannabinoids.
Categories
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the most well-known cannabinoid. It produces a high feeling in our products like our flower, concentrates, edibles, and vapes. Types include Delta-9 and Delta-8 THC.
CBD (cannabidiol) is the second-most well-known cannabinoid and is responsible for the claims of anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety characteristics. In addition, CBD helps counteract some of the intoxicating effects of THC.
CBG (cannabigerol) is broken down by heat into other cannabinoids, but research is beginning to show anti-inflammatory attributes.
Others include CBN, THCA, THCV, and all sorts of other classes that are still being researched.
